What Are Probiotics?

Probiotics are live bacteria that are good for your digestive system.

Two kinds of bacteria live in and on your body - good bacteria and bad bacteria.

Probiotics are made of good live bacteria and/or yeasts that naturally live in your body.[1] They are promoted for having various health benefits, and are thought to help restore the natural balance of bacteria in your gut.

Good bacteria helps in many ways, such as fighting off the bad bacteria in excess to improve your overall health.[1] Many of the microorganisms in the probiotic products are similar to those naturally living in our bodies.[2]

Probiotics are safe to consume. Speak to your healthcare practitioner to find out if you may benefit from taking probiotics.
