Marie obtained her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the International Christian University in Tokyo. She first started her career working as a school counsellor for a group of elementary schools in Tokyo, where she assessed students with various mood problems and developmental disabilities. She also worked with children who refused to go to school and provide guidance and support to the students, parents and teachers. With her training in clinical psychology working in adults, she then started to work with adults in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, managing illnesses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar affective disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), PTSD and eating disorders. One of her main focuses with adults included supporting employees to return to work after a period of absence due to mental illnesses or physical problems through various cognitive behavioural therapy techniques and counselling. She was also hired by the Corrections Bureau of the Ministry of Justice to work on the mental health of the incarcerated and developed programmes to prevent recidivism, especially amongst sex offenders, and employment support.

国際基督教大学大学院にて臨床心理学を学び、卒業後はスーパーヴィジョンやガイダンス・カウンセリング、成人期臨床の専門家訓練を受ける一方、都内の小学校にてスクールカウンセラーとして勤務。不登校児童や別室登校児童、発達に偏りのある児童への心理的サポートと共に、児童がより良い環境で学校生活を送れるよう、保護者や教職員と連携し、心理教育的アプローチを行う。

また、精神科クリニックにて、通院患者への個別カウンセリングを実施。パニック障害、強迫性障害、心的外傷後ストレス障害（PTSD）、うつ病、躁うつ病、摂食障害など、様々な心理的困難にある患者に対してカウンセリングを行う。

リワーク外来（精神疾患や発達の偏りなどが原因で休職をしている患者が復職を目指すために通う外来）にて、復職を目指す患者に対し、認知行動療法の短期グループ講座を開催し、休職に陥った経緯の振り返りや復職後の対応などを共に検討、患者が復職後は、企業内にてフォローアップ・カウンセリングを実施する。

更に、刑務所内にて、依存症の問題のある受刑者に対し、再犯防止プログラムの一環としてグループ矯正教育を実施するなど、教育、医療、司法の分野にて臨床経験を積む。
