Granuloma

Formed by a grouping of white blood cells in response to chronic inflammation.

Mouth ulcers (口腔潰瘍), also known as canker sores, are a common oral condition. Small, painful lesions develop in the mouth or at the base of the gums. They can make eating, drinking, and even talking uncomfortable. They appear in white, grey, or yellow with a red border. They most commonly occur on the inside of the lips or cheeks but can also be found on the tongue, gums, or the roof of the mouth.

Causes of Mouth Ulcers

Several factors can trigger mouth ulcers, including:

  • Physical trauma
  • Stress or anxiety
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Certain medications or medical conditions

Symptoms of Mouth Ulcers

Aside from the visible sore, mouth ulcers can also cause:

  • Pain or discomfort in the mouth
  • Tenderness in the affected area
  • Difficulty eating or drinking
  • Feeling generally unwell, though this is less common

Treatment for Mouth Ulcers

Mouth ulcers often heal independently within one to two weeks without any treatment, although there are several gels and pastes available to help soothe the inflammation and pain. It is important to note that if they persist for over three weeks, are unusually painful, or have multiple ulcers in the mouth and throat, you should seek medical attention.
